Provider Directory - Who's on your Team?

It is important to know that when your Health Center Team refers you to a specialist, the specialist is Board Eligible or d in their area of medical practice. What this means is that the specialists you see have passed stringent tests and have demonstrated application of their medical training to the highest degree required by the Board of Medical Specialties.

Family Practice Physicians

Family Practice Physicians are uniquely qualified specialists in family medicine who manage the health care needs of your entire family. Our Family Practice Physicians have completed a three-year residency program. This gives them extensive training in pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, internal medicine, surgery, and community medicine. Our Family Practice Physicians are board eligible or board certified. Family Practice is the only medical specialty that requires recertification every six years. Certification is attained by passing a written exam.

Physician Assistants & Nurse Practitioners

Both Physician Assistants (PA) and Nurse Practitioners (NP) are college educated medical professionals. They are also commonly known as mid-level providers. Mid-level practitioners are trained in basic medical and clinical sciences and have met strict educational and certification requirements. The PA and NP work under the close supervision of the family practice physician. They are able to diagnose and treat common medical problems as well as manage the stable phases of chronic conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes. They write prescriptions and do basic health assessment and examination workups.

While you are a member, you will most likely see both a family practice physician and a physician assistant (PA)or nurse practitioner (NP).Who you see depends on you and your medical needs. Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants are called Practitioners because all three are skilled to provide you with care.

Nursing Staff

Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Medical Assistants (MA) are all part of your nursing team at GVHP. Their training includes taking medical histories, monitoring your blood pressure, drawing blood samples, giving immunization and allergy injections and assisting during routine examinations. Members of the nursing staff answer your health care questions in person and by phone. They are trained to assess your symptoms and make the right appointment for your needs.

Specialty Care Nurses

Our Specialty Care Nurses contact you if you are hospitalized. The Specialty Care Nurses are registered nurses who work as advocates for you in the hospital. They help coordinate your care and make any special arrangements you may need after you leave the hospital. They help you understand your condition, treatment options and doctors' recommendations.
